Frontal Passage and Rainfall for Folks out West
A cold front has surged into the Texas panhandle and extreme western
Oklahoma, bringing much cooler temperatures and soaking rains to the
panhandle and extreme western Oklahoma. As of 4:00 pm, the high
temperature at several panhandle stations today was 70 F! The
majority of Mesonet stations in the rest of state reports *low*
temperatures in the mid-70s.
Mesonet data suggests that the front currently runs along a line from
near Altus to Hinton to Enid to Blackwell. Any eastward progress has
been agonizingly slow today.
Many thundershowers have erupted around Oklahoma this afternoon, as
well, and not just in the immediate vicinity of the front.
Here are some rainfall totals from the last 48 hours. Expect
additional rainfall, as there are several active areas of convection
across Oklahoma this afternoon:
Boise City 2.91"
Beaver 1.31"
Kenton 1.22"
Hooker .78"
Putnam .42"
Erick .40"
Camargo .39"
Alva .39"
Broken Bow .32"
