This Year's Hump Day is Today
With six months already put in the record books, 1999 is turning out to
definitely be a wet one. Tomorrow's Ticker will provide a statistical
look at just how wet and how cool this year has been.
Today's Thunderstorms
Storms during the overnight and morning hours have continued into this
afternoon. While no Mesonet-observed wind gust compares with the
77 mph reading at Sallisaw yesterday afternoon, there have been strong
winds today:

Torrential rainfall has accompanied the latest round of storms. The
Buffalo Mesonet station has collected 5.27 inches since midnight, as
of 1:30 pm. The first 4.5 inches came in about an hour and a half.
There are many other Mesonet stations which have observed at least
1.5 inches of rain today. As always, Mesonet rainfall since midnight

Today's June 1999 vs. June 1998 Statistic:
Including today, at least one Mesonet station has observed an inch
or more of rainfall on 22 of the 30 days of June. On 16 of those days,
at least one Mesonet stations has observed two or more inches.
The analagous 1998 numbers are 8 and 3, respectively.
