Preliminary Results:  April-September Tied for Warmest Such Period Ever

The April-September average statewide temperature of 76.7 F has placed
1998 in a tie with 1954 for the hottest such period recorded in Oklahoma.

Each of the state's nine climate divisions finished with an average
temperature among the five warmest since records began in 1895, and
five of them broke records for the period.

A tabular summary is displayed at the end of this message.

severe weather.  Lightning was probably the culprit.
