Widespread Heat Continues

Today, just like yesterday, the entire state is under the assault of
100+ degree temperatures.

Yesterday, only six Mesonet "border stations" (Kenton, Boise City,
Miami, Mt. Herman, Goodwell and May Ranch) failed to reach 100 F.
Today is more of the same, as only six northwestern sations remain
below 100 F at 3:30 pm.

76 of the Mesonet's 114 stations have reached 105 F as of 3:30 pm.
63 of the Mesonet's 114 stations have reached 106 F as of 3:30 pm.
41 of the Mesonet's 114 stations have reached 107 F as of 3:30 pm.
30 of the Mesonet's 114 stations have reached 108 F as of 3:30 pm.
18 of the Mesonet's 114 stations have reached 109 F as of 3:30 pm.
4 of the Mesonet's 114 stations have reached 110 F as of 3:30 pm.

As always, current Mesonet high and low temperatures and other current
weather information are available at the Mesonet Subscriber's Home Page:

Soil Temps Show Heat Spell

Near surface (two-inch) Mesonet soil temperatures have shown very
warm temperatures as well. More than one-third of the Mesonet
soil temperatures (under bare soil) at this level exceeded 110 F.

Additionally, the number of these soil temperatures which record daily
low temperatures above 80 F is growing (about one-fourth of the network).

How Times Have Changed

One year ago today, the high temperature at Hollis was 73 F. Today,
the Hollis temperature at 3:30 pm was 105 F.
