Summer Lovin'
https://ticker.mesonet.org/archive/20230927/statewide-avg-high-temps.png
I have very little to say about a lot today, but I could say a lot about very little...how about we just go with a little about a little?
Done! Thanks for reading.
Okay, wait wait, don't go yet. Let's talk about our FALL summer. You know, the summer we get after SUMMER summer ends? And SUMMER summer did end, although we did have a one or two days last week of "wait, is SUMMER summer back?" Looking at the top chart, though, we can clearly see that the magnitude of heat has dropped from before the State Fair to a much more manageable level. And by manageable, I mean lack of bursting into flames only to see those flames doused by the high humidity.
But my contention (not my prerogative, Bobby Brown!) is that this FALL summer is outstanding weather, the lack of rain notwithstanding, and not-with-standing is how I spend most of my day. Just look at yesterday's high temperatures.

Wow, that's some serious heat for this time of year, no? Like, 10-15 degrees above normal in some areas, and...WAIT! I just got a notice of a severe wind in Woodward. Holy cow, IT'S RAINING RIGHT NOW FOR CRYING OUT LOUD (yes, my "heck" escalated to a "Holy cow")!

Congrats to those folks for the rain they are receiving. LUCKY!

But anyway, back to my original argument...Cherry Pop-Tarts are vastly superior to Strawberry Pop-Tarts!
Whoops, wrong browser window. Oh yeah, temperatures. So we saw the highs in the 90s for yesterday's highs, but check out the max heat index values for yesterday.

Wow, slice some humidity out of the air and you slice some "feels like" off those temperatures. So that dry heat feels so much better than a humidity-induced similar high temperature. AND those temperatures drop considerably at night in that dry air, and right about sunset you have gloriously warm-ish dry air that is perfect for being outside.
Why do I say this? Because I went outside at sunset last night and it felt awesome! Hey, if the weather gives you lemons, make Lemon Pop-Tarts! Okay, gross! Just stick to lemonade.
So get ready for more lemonade in the next 2 weeks or so.
