The heat wins!!
Not sure where all this talk about the heat losing is coming from today ... looks like it is dominating to me. Temperatures across the state are in the 90s and 100s, and in the western half where the drought still holds, those readings either approached or exceeded their historical records.

Buffalo, awesome place and birthplace of very important people, had the state's high temperature as of 4:05 pm at 110 degrees. That also eclipsed their previous record for this date of 107 degrees, set back in 1998. In a familiar refrain, similar heat was found generally west of I-35. Of the 120 Oklahoma Mesonet stations, 54 had high temperatures of at least 100 degrees. Here are the top-15 highest temperatures for the day, at least as of 4:20 p.m. Still room to grow there.
Warmest Maximum Temperatures 1 - Buffalo 110 2 - Freedom 108 3 - May Ranch 107 4 - Tipton 107 5 - Grandfield 107 6 - Arnett 107 7 - Camargo 107 8 - Hollis 107 9 - Erick 106 10 - Bessie 106 11 - Alva 106 12 - Slapout 106 13 - Cherokee 106 14 - Mangum 106 15 - Hobart 105
Much of northwestern Oklahoma remains in exceptional to severe drought. While there was some beneficial rains during the past 4-5 days, the improvements will be diminished thanks to the dry air and heat we've had since.
The highest maximum temperature ever recorded in Oklahoma on June 13th is 112 degrees at Alva in 1917. Buffalo's 110 degrees comes in fourth.
