The Heat Continues.
Record and near-record high temperatures are occurring again today.
The Mesonet reading of 107 F (and climbing) at Altus surpassed the
previous post-1948 record of 100 (est. 1953) at the nearby
NWS cooperative observer site.
Throughout the southern quarter of the state, 2:30pm Mesonet
temperatures exceed 100 F.
Three Mesonet stations in southwest Oklahoma observed their sixth
straight day of 100+ degree temps.
Grandfield: 101, 104, 102, 106, 109, 107*
Tipton: 100, 104, 102, 101, 109, 105*
Walters: 100, 104, 102, 106, 109, 106*

Altus, Waurika, Ketchum Ranch and Burneyville have experienced
five straight 100+ degree highs.

Seasonal Rainfall Totals
The climatological spring season ended May 31, and Mesonet rainfall
totals show that is was a very dry spring in the south and southeast.
In fact, the Southeast climate division finished the season nearly
five inches below normal.
Rainfall averaged accross the state was 97% of normal for the season.
The Panhandle, East Central, Southwest, South Central, and Southeast
climate divisions were below normal for the season.
