Flies and crickets
As we sit and ponder the need for the flyswatter on Nov. 19, and why the house
continues to fill with crickets, we can't help but notice the first signs of
another arctic blast (our LEAST favorite Sonic blast flavor, by the way) are
beginning to show up. Take a look at the 6-10 and 8-14 day outlooks from the
CPC ... the odds of below normal temperatures are going up.

Those cover the last week of November and the first few days of December. I'm not
sure how cold it will get just yet, but it's a bit different than the oranges
and reds we've seen lately. That also fits right in with the Arctic Oscillation
(AO) forecast, which shows more of the squiggly red lines headed to negative
territory (remember, negative AO index often means the arctic is opening up for
bidness).

Unfortunately, the precipitation outlooks are still in the brown, meaning
increased odds of below normal moisture.

So we will enjoy the mild temperatures this week but loathe the dry air as we
await Turkey Day, Black Friday-That's-Really-Thursday, and the oranges and
reds of a nice little football contest on Saturday.
